Agartala: Jan 27: Tensions flared along the India-Bangladesh international border in Kailashahar, Tripura, when a violent altercation broke out between Indian and Bangladeshi farmers on Sunday morning. Two Indian farmers were injured in the attack, while a few Bangladeshi individuals were also wounded. Reports suggest that one of the Bangladeshi attackers later succumbed to his injuries during treatment in Sylhet district of Bangladesh.

According to Border Security Force (BSF) officials, the incident took place in the Hiracherra area of Kailashahar, which lies beyond the barbed wire fence on the border. A group of Indian farmers was working in their fields when they were confronted by Bangladeshi farmers, who had crossed the border pillars near the zero line. The initial argument between the two groups quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.

During the scuffle, sharp weapons, including machetes (locally known as dao), were reportedly used by the Bangladeshi farmers, leading to severe injuries for the two Indian farmers. The injured victims were immediately provided medical assistance. At the same time, a few Bangladeshi farmers were also injured in the altercation, and one of them reportedly died from his injuries after being taken to a hospital in Sylhet district, Bangladesh.

The BSF has confirmed that both sides are injured, but the exact details of the incident remain under investigation. Authorities have heightened security measures along the border, and the situation is being monitored closely to prevent further escalation. Both Indian and Bangladeshi authorities are expected to engage in dialogue to resolve the matter peacefully and prevent future border conflicts.
