According to Dhalai district Additional Superintendent of Police Manabendranath Chowdhury, the estimated street value of the confiscated drugs is approximately Rs 1 crore. The operation unfolded after intelligence sources alerted the police that a large consignment of narcotics was being transported via car with registration number TR01B Z 0648 from the Dharmanagar area. The police promptly initiated an investigation, leading them to intercept the vehicle.

The subsequent search revealed the hidden stash of Yaba tablets, concealed within a secret compartment. The police had strategically set up a checkpoint along the route from Fatikroy to Khowai, where they halted the suspect vehicle. The seizure of 78,000 Yaba tablets underscores the severity of the drug trafficking issue in the region.

Biswajit Hossain and Tinku Mia, both residents of Bishalgarh, were taken into custody. Authorities have filed a case against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The successful operation demonstrates the commitment of law enforcement agencies in curbing drug-related crimes and safeguarding public health and safety.
