Agartala: May 19: In a recent development, another individual has been arrested in connection with an NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) case involving 804 grams of brown sugar. The incident occurred on May 11 when a motorcycle carrying 81 boxes of brown sugar was involved in an accident on the national highway near Charidham Petrol Pump in the Bishalgarh police station area.
Upon arriving at the scene, Bishalgarh police apprehended the motorcycle’s owner, Kabir Uddin, who is suspected to be a drug dealer. A case under the NDPS Act was registered, and an investigation was initiated. Kabir Uddin is currently in judicial custody, awaiting trial.
During the course of the investigation, the case’s investigating officer, Mrinal Majumdar, uncovered the name of another alleged drug dealer. On Saturday night, Bishalgarh police arrested Faruk Hossain from Sonamura based on his suspected involvement in the case.
Following all necessary legal procedures, Faruk Hossain was presented before the Bishalgarh District Court on Sunday, with the police seeking a three-day remand for further interrogation. Authorities believe that significant information may emerge during this period of police custody.
