Notorious Drug Dealer Apprehended in Matinagar by Amtali Police and BSF Jawans

Agartala: June 07: In a significant joint operation, Amtali police, in collaboration with Border Security Force (BSF) jawans, successfully apprehended a notorious drug dealer. The accused, identified as Abu Salam Bhuyan (59), was arrested from the Matinagar area.

Authorities had received credible information that Abu Salam Bhuyan had been involved in illegal drug trafficking for an extended period. Acting swiftly, the Amtali police and BSF conducted a thorough search operation under the leadership of Amtali police station OC Ranjit Debnath. During the operation, they recovered a country-made pistol, five rounds of fresh bullets, and a magazine.

Further investigation revealed that Abu Salam Bhuyan was attempting to smuggle banned Yaba tablets into Bangladesh. His residence in Matinagar, which fell under the jurisdiction of Amtali police station, was searched, resulting in the discovery of approximately 40,000 Yaba tablets, along with the firearm and ammunition.

Amtali police have formally registered a case related to the incident and initiated a comprehensive investigation. Authorities plan to produce Abu Salam Bhuyan in court, seeking remand to extract crucial information. Additionally, the police suspect that other individuals may be connected to his illicit activities.
