Agartala, October 16: Nature, forest, wildlife and life complement each other. The government has also given importance to employment through forest creation and utilization of forest resources. This was said by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha at the closing ceremony of the Wildlife Week celebration at the Jaychadpur High School grounds of Bilonia Subdivision.
The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the organization of sports and painting competitions among students to celebrate the Wildlife Week.
He said, by doing this, students will have an idea about forest and wildlife conservation. Cooperative Minister Shuklacharan Noyatia, MLA Swapna Majumder, MLA Mylayu Mog, Principal Secretary Forest Department KS Shetty and others were present at the closing ceremony.
Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said on the occasion that Tripura has 73 percent forest land. The forests of our state were once home to various species of wildlife and birds. Several of its animals are now extinct. This is due to deforestation. So not only to save ourselves, but also to protect the forest and wildlife.
According to him, the government is organizing bison festival, Habil festival, festival for migratory birds every year for wildlife conservation. Also planting trees is being done with emphasis on afforestation. Not only that, the government has also given importance to employment through forest creation and utilization of forest resources.
The Chief Minister said that the government is making tourist centers attractive. Tourists from home and abroad are coming to the state. Former Indian cricket captain Gaurav Ganguly has been roped in as the brand ambassador for Tripura’s tourism development. This will spread the tourism centers of the state in the country and abroad. He said that educational trips should be taken with students to other tourist centers including Thirsna Abhayaranna, Butterfly Park. The current state government has introduced e-Assembly, e-Cabinet, e-Office for conducting transparent administration. It will reduce air and save time. Today Chief Minister inaugurated the e-office in South Tripura district.
On this day, the Chief Minister gave prizes to the winners of various competitions. Kavita, wife of Haripad Sheel, who was killed in a bison attack, handed over a check of Rs 5 lakh to Sheel. Chief Minister launched an e-rickshaw for tourists today.
