Agartala: Mar 04: In a tragic incident Rajeev Saha and his wife beat up the Asha worker at night in Master Para area of the capital. Asha Karmi’s name is Lakshmi Debnath Pal. ASHA activists went to West Agartala police station and gathered in protest on Monday. Demanded severe punishment for the two accused. It is known from Asha worker who was the victim of harassment, he was appointed as Asha worker on February 5.
Then he got the responsibility of Master Para area of the capital. Accordingly Masterpara goes to survey the area to fulfill his duties in the area. After conducting a survey at Rajeev Saha’s house in the area, he found out after a few days that one of the children in the house could not get polio. Then after meeting him, Asha worker asked to take polio from the sub center. As usual, the child of Rajeev Sahar’s family got polio from the sub center. Then after a few days the two tenant families of Rajeev Saha’s house went to Asha Karmi’s house, told Asha Karmi that their child was nine years and nine months old, but could not take polio for three months. They were immediately informed to go to Jaghari Mura sub center.
And went there and brought polio as usual. Then, when the Asha worker was returning home, Rajiv Saha stopped the Asha worker in the middle of the road and abused them with obscene language and told their house to cut off the children’s names. In the meantime, after the children of two tenants of Rajiv Saha’s house came with pulse polio yesterday i.e. Sunday, around 9:30 PM, Rajiv Saha Asha worker went to the house and started abusing them in obscene language. Then after coming out of the house, accused Rajeev Saha and his wife allegedly beat Asha worker and Asha worker’s daughter. Then the information was given to the police of West Agartala police station. The police went and inspected the scene. But as no one was arrested till Monday morning, ASHA activists finally gathered and went to West Agartala police station. Demanded the police to quickly arrest the accused and accused wife and give severe punishment. But as far as the news is concerned, the accused Rajeev and one of his close relatives are trying to defend the matter from a political point of view. But the Asha worker stood at the door of the police station and demanded the trial of the accused.
