Agartala: March 20: A minor abduction incident has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving Kailashahar in a state of turmoil. However, there is a glimmer of relief as the police swiftly rescued the victim within a mere 10 hours.

According to the details of the incident , a 14-year-old minor girl from the Sheelpara area of Ward No. 1 in Kailashahar Municipality was allegedly abducted by a young man from Maguruli village, who belongs to a different religious community. The accused has been identified as Jahid Ali, of Maguruli village. In response to the incident, approximately 200 youths affiliated with Hindu organizations, along with the victim’s family members, surrounded the Kailashahar police station last night. They expressed their outrage by blocking the road and setting fire in front of the station.

As tensions escalated, Superintendent of Police Jayanta Karmakar engaged with the protestors, urging them to lift the blockade. He assured them that necessary legal action would be taken. Despite this verbal assurance, the protestors persisted in blocking the road. Under pressure from the district president of the Rashtriya Hindu Sangathan, the Mahila police station registered an FIR filed by the victim’s family.

The Rashtriya Hindu Sangathan issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the police administration, demanding the arrest of the accused youth. The president of the Unakoti Rashtriya Hindu Sangathan warned of a larger agitation if the accused youth was not apprehended within the stipulated time frame.

Notably, the accused Jahid Ali hails from Maguruli village, falling under the jurisdiction of the Irani police station. Sources from the Irani police station report that late last night, Superintendent of Police Jayanta Karmakar, accompanied by other officials, initiated the arrest process. The unfolding situation remains closely monitored, with the community anxiously awaiting further developments.
