Agartala: Nov 29: Tripura state is facing significant challenges with drug trafficking. Drug traffickers, taking advantage of weaknesses in the police intelligence branch, are continuing their trade, often using luxury cars to transport drugs across the state. However, the Melaghar police achieved a major success in a recent raid.
Early on Friday morning, acting on secret information, the Melaghar police learned that drugs might be smuggled in a luxury car. Based on this information, they laid an ambush in the Indiranagar area. During the operation, the luxury car carrying the drugs attempted to flee by hitting the police car. The car lost control and crashed into a house on the roadside. The driver immediately fled the scene, but the police arrested a young man named Didar Hossain from the car. Upon searching the vehicle, the police recovered 260,000 Yaba tablets.
Additional Superintendent of Police Rajib Sutradhar of Sipahijala district rushed to the scene upon receiving news of the incident. He stated that the black market value of the recovered Yaba tablets would be approximately 3 crore rupees. A case has been filed against Didar Hossain at Melaghar police station, and the investigation is ongoing.
Didar Hossain’s house is located in the Kulubari area of Sonamura sub-division. While the police have been successful in this operation, drug traffickers continue to smuggle drugs across the state almost daily. It remains to be seen whether the Melaghar police can arrest the main mastermind of this drug trafficking ring during the investigation.
