Agartala: Dec 28: A man named Nirmal Sutradhar has been arrested for blackmailing women by spreading objectionable images of them on social media. The incident took place in the Teliamura MP Choumuhani area. According to reports, over the past few days, several young women and housewives in the Teliamura area found their private photos and videos being shared online, creating widespread anxiety.
Suspicion grew around a local computer shop named Supreme Studio, located in the MP Choumuhani area. The shop was frequently visited by students and common people for various computer-related work, which gave employees easy access to people’s phones. It was alleged that Nirmal Sutradhar, an employee at the shop, took advantage of this by asking customers to share their phones for work, secretly saving their private and objectionable images. Later, he reportedly blackmailed them using these photos and videos.
The situation came to light when the family of a young woman discovered that her personal photos had been shared on social media, a few days after the incident. They immediately approached the Teliamura police station, but the police initially showed little interest in investigating the matter. Despite filing a complaint, there was no progress, and the investigation seemed stalled for several days.
Frustrated by the lack of action from the police, the woman’s family, along with some local youth, took matters into their own hands. They traced the incident back to Nirmal Sutradhar, the employee at Supreme Studio. With the help of a computer expert, they raided the shop and found multiple objectionable images on Nirmal’s computer. They informed the police, and after some pressure, Nirmal admitted his involvement in the crime. The Teliamura police then arrested him.
This incident has caused a significant stir in the Teliamura area, raising concerns about privacy violations and the police’s handling of such cases. It remains to be seen what further details emerge from the investigation.
