According to police reports, Jhuton’s brother revealed that he had been married to Mampi Sarkar for eight years, and they had a son together. However, disputes arose between the couple following the child’s birth. On the night of last Sunday, Jhuton was reportedly summoned to his in-laws’ home by his brother-in-law, Monir Debnath. It is alleged that there he was brutally beaten and left on the floor.

Upon receiving the news, Jhuton’s family rushed to the location, where they found him in critical condition. They quickly transported him to Hapania Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Hospital, but his health continued to decline, necessitating a transfer to GB Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries early Wednesday morning at around 5 am.

Following the incident, the Amtali police station registered a murder case. Monir Debnath was arrested on October 29 for his involvement in the assault, while Jhuton’s wife, Mampi Sarkar, and father-in-law, Ajay Sarkar, were apprehended subsequently. Police Officer Sitikanta Bardhan stated that further interrogations are underway, and additional arrests will be made if more individuals are implicated in the crime. This tragic case highlights ongoing issues of domestic violence and family disputes.
