On the evening of April 30, miscreants fatally shot Durga Prasad Deb, also known as Vicky, the current general secretary of the Bharat Ratna Sangha Club Usha Bazar in the capital. The incident occurred in the Shalbagan area within the Bamutia assembly constituency. Vicky sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was rushed to ILS Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His family alleges that other club members were directly involved in the incident.

According to Vicky’s wife, on the fateful evening, he had taken their child to see a doctor. Around 7 pm, she received a call from her husband, who informed her that a person named Biman Das had sent a car for him, and he was on his way home. Subsequently, his phone went offline. Later, news arrived that Vicky had been shot. The victim’s wife directly accused Raju Barman and Biman Das of her husband’s murder, prompting the police to initiate an investigation.

In the ongoing investigation into Durga Prasad Deb’s murder, the Airport police station arrested three individuals: Pradyut Dhar Chowdhury, college student Sushmita Sarkar (22), and Sunny Saha. Pradyut, the former president of the Bharat Ratna Sangha Club at Usha Bazar, was among those detained. Today, the police apprehended the main suspect, Raju Barman, in connection with the murder case.
