Agartala, October 4: A youth named Nandu Sarkar was beaten to death in broad daylight on June 29 on suspicion of cow theft. In view of that incident, a case of murder was registered at the East police station. After three long months of police investigation, the main accused Biplab Das alias Vishnu, who was involved in the murder case, was arrested by the police today. Today the young man will be handed over to the court seeking police remand, said Purba police station OC Rana Chatterjee.
Incidentally, on June 29, Nandu Sarkar (40) was beaten to death in broad daylight at Baldakhal Bridge area. After being taken to the hospital, doctors declared him brought dead. The deceased’s wife Sonali Dev Sarkar alleged that her husband was beaten to death by calling him a cow thief. Moreover, the deceased’s brother said that Nandu was known as an animal lover in that area. He was never involved in any anti-social activities. He was beaten to death. In view of that incident Sonali Deb filed a case under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code at Sarkar East police station. Immediately, the police took over the case and started investigation. During the police investigation, the police arrested three youths from Baldakhal area involved in the murder. But the police could not arrest the main accused involved in the murder case.
