Agartala: Mar 17: At a press conference, Congress spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty announced that the Mahila Congress will organize a protest march in the city on March 29 to address concerns over women’s safety. He alleged that incidents of violence against women have increased in the country and the state under BJP rule.

Chakraborty highlighted that while the BJP government emphasizes women’s empowerment and self-reliance under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, data suggests a rise in crimes against women. Citing NCB statistics, he stated that crimes against women and girl children increased by 28% in 2024 compared to the tenure of the UP government. He also claimed that such incidents are occurring at an alarming frequency.
