Madhupur, February 23: In a significant operation, the Madhupur police thwarted an attempt to smuggle two bikes across the border on Thursday night. Acting on intelligence inputs, the police were alerted to the illicit activity, leading to a swift response.
The targeted area was Kaiyadhepa, situated within the Kamalasaagar assembly constituency. The police promptly shared information with local residents, who remained vigilant throughout the night, ready to apprehend the smugglers.
When the culprits arrived in the area with the bikes, the locals sprang into action. Although the smugglers managed to escape, they abandoned the two bikes, which bore the registration numbers TR01DW 6460 and TR01L8270. The police swiftly secured the vehicles and transported them to the local police station.
Authorities suspect that the bikes were originally stolen with the intention of smuggling them into Bangladesh. An investigation is now underway to uncover the full extent of this cross-border operation.
