Agartala: Mar 11: Seven member MP delegation on March 11 met Tripura governor SN Arya seeking his intervention to establish rule of law in the state putting a full stop on the unabated incident of post-poll violence since the election results are declared. The delegation later addressed the media persons at the state guesthouse and narrated their first hand experience that they gathered in the course of interacting with victims of political violence. The MP’s claimed the rule of law has been elusive in Tripura particularly after the polls as anti-social elements enjoying political patronage went on a rampage all over the state. CPIM MP Ealamaram Kareem said, “The rule of law has taken a back seat in the state after the elections. People had been attacked, persecuted in most vengeful ways for supporting the opposition political parties. Before this press briefing we met the governor of the state and explained to him to what extent people are terror-stricken due to the targeted attacks”. Accusing the BJP the CPIM leader said, “What is happening in Tripura must draw the notice of the whole country. We shall raise these issues in the parliament as well as in front of the national media so that people know what BJP’s slogan of development literally entailed in Tripura”, he added. Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan, on the other hand, raised serious allegations against the police and administration for playing an inactive role when common men are terrified by the “BJP backed hoodlums”. “We don’t have any grudge against the administration and the police. But, the way police are siding the ruling party backed miscreants is unprecedented in the state. They are enjoying immunity from any kind of legal prosecution”, she added. The MPs have demanded that those who have suffered in the hands of the BJP backed goons must be compensated duly as per the recommendation of an all party committee. The assessment should be done as immediately as possible.
Agartala, March 11 (AD): Leaders of Left Front and Congress staged a planned event at Nehalchandra Nagar in Bishalgarh to humiliate BJP at the national level. This is how BJP state spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharya refuted the allegation of attack on the CPM-Congress parliamentary party yesterday. He claims that there is a deep conspiracy behind the incident.
On this day, he said, the attention of the BJP state leadership has been drawn to the alleged attack on the central and state delegation of CPM-Congress at Nehalchandra Nagar in Bishalgarh in Sepahijala district. The state leadership has already discussed the matter with the local officials and others concerned. The party believes that there is a deep conspiracy behind this incident. He asserted vehemently that the divisive, self-interested BamGress leaders had tried to stage the planned incident to humiliate Tripura and the BJP at the national level.
According to him, Tripura Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha contacted the Director General of Police over the phone from Delhi immediately after the allegations of Left Congress leaders came to light. He also ordered to verify the truth of the complaint and take legal action in the matter. Accordingly, police officials have been sent to the spot. The state president Rajib Bhattacharjee also inquired about the details of the incident from the local police administration and general administration officials, Nabendu said.
He claimed that the BJP state leadership found out after inquiry that the MPs and MLAs of Bamgress did not even contact the police before going to the concerned area. As a result, it suddenly became clear that there was no noble motive behind the visit. He said that security guards were present at the spot even though the police had no advance notice. The delegation went there and tried to mislead the local people by talking about post-election terrorism. There was a protest there. But there was no attack anywhere.
He added that the security personnel present were also quite active and escorted the delegation from the area. According to him, people’s democratic rights cannot be undermined. There too people raised their voices against the evil tactics of Bamgress leaders through democratic means. The people did not accept the false allegations and denied any political terror in the area. Bamgress leaders did not tolerate it, he said sarcastically.
According to Nabendu, during the election process in Tripura, Bamgress leaders have given many persuasive speeches. BJP has also threatened to kill the functionaries many times if it comes to power. Immediately after the polls, many untoward incidents have also taken place at the behest of these divisive leaders. However, following the directions of the BJP state leadership, the party functionaries continued to exercise restraint and did not fall into any trap of incitement, he said.
He claimed that this is the second assembly election after the election in 2018, where no post-election terrorism was organized at the instigation of any ruling party. There were no casualties even but in the past, leftist terrorism before and after any election was a normal occurrence. Tripura is trying to get rid of that bad culture. However, the efforts of the opposition remain, he said in a sarcastic tone.
According to Nabendu, opposition leaders may not have learned any lessons from the election results yet. Attempts to defame Tripura by making false allegations while opposing the government should be avoided. The people have given their verdict in the recently concluded assembly elections. The verdict of the people should be taken.
Frankly, the people of the state will not forgive anyone who conspires against the people by defaming Tripura. BJP strongly condemns this attempt to spread false information and defame the people of Tripura. The BJP believes that the public has a major role to play along with the police and general administration in preventing any kind of conspiracy against Tripura.
