Agartala November 19: Janjati Suraksha Manch Tripura has taken the initiative to organize a huge rally and public meeting from Agartala Swami Vivekananda Maidan on December 25, demanding cancellation of Scheduled Janjati benefits for converts through necessary amendments to the Indian Constitution. Thousands of people from the state’s tribal community will participate in the rally and public meeting. Shanti Bikas Chakma, convenor of Janjati Suraksha Manch, gave details about this in a press conference at Agartala Press Club on Sunday.

He said the people of the Janjati community from different districts, blocks and villages would first assemble at three places, namely Umakanta Maidan, Khudiram Bose English Medium Higher Secondary School Ground and Radhanagar Bus Stand. The rally will start at 12 noon and the public meeting at the end of the rally will begin at 1 pm. Each ethnic group has its own independent culture and traditions.

It will be further claimed that the people of the Janjati community have been enjoying constitutional benefits as Scheduled Tribes in independent India for all these independent customs, practices and culture. But in case of conversion, the converted person does not follow the traditional rules of his society. According to their terms, social norms have to be abandoned. Because India is a secular country. All religions have equal status and right to practice in this country. He also said t

hat people are destroying the traditional social norms and culture of the society by converting religion. And action should be taken against those who convert to other religions and are not following their own traditional customs, said the state coordinator of the organization in a press conference.
