ISKCON’s financial assistance to the families of victims of Uloto Rath electrocution

Agartala, July 4: ISKCON has provided financial assistance of Rs. Today ISKCON Agartala Co-President Sridham Govinda Das handed over the amount to each family.

Incidentally, seven people, including three children, died tragically due to electrocution in an ISKCON-organized Ulto Rath at Kumarghat. Several others were injured and are undergoing treatment. The incident caused a stir in the entire country including Tripura. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident and announced financial assistance to the families of the dead and injured. The Tripura government has also announced financial assistance. The Tripura government has already started providing financial assistance to the families of the victims.

 

The ISKCON authorities have admitted negligence in the tragic incident of Uloto Rathe. Learning from that incident, ISKCON has formed committees for the protection of chariots across the country. Today ISKCON has provided financial assistance to the families of the victims. In this regard, ISKCON Agartala Co-President Sridham Gobind Das said that this small effort has been taken to stand by the victims of electrocution. Financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh has been provided to each of their families. He added that ISKCON is also thinking about financial assistance to the injured. This is because the injured have different levels of injuries. Taking everything into consideration, steps will be taken regarding financial assistance at the next stage.
