Agartala: In a press conference held at the state office on Tuesday, leaders of the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) claimed significant political development. The party’s General Secretary, Swapna Debbarma, stated that on December 21 and 22, an IPFT delegation met with senior leaders of the North East region, including Prabhati Sambit Patra and the Chairman of NEDA, Himanta Biswa Sarma, to discuss the current situation in the state.

Further, the party’s legislator and minister, Shuklacharan Noatia, also met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss similar issues. The party raised several demands, including the creation of Tipraland and the passage of the 125th Constitutional Amendment of 2019. This amendment, according to the IPFT, ensures that the Indian Parliament’s approval is secured before the 2026 general elections to hold the first general election of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

The party also announced that on January 1, they will observe the third death anniversary of their founder, Narendra Chandra Debbarma. On this occasion, all division committees will visit the tomb of the late Supremo N.C. Debbarma at Teliamura Ranipur to pay their respects. Additionally, a meeting will be held at the Mungiakami Community Hall to commemorate the event, as stated by Debbarma during the conference.
