Agartala: Mar 18:  Illegal wood smugglers now have indigenous guns. Traffickers are using indigenous guns to counter resistance. Such was the case in Brahmachara village under Teliamura police station in the early hours of Saturday. Giving details of the incident, a forest official said that he got information from secret news that illegal timber will be smuggled through Baluchhara area. In this report, the forest workers were ambushed in the early hours of Saturday in the Baluchhara area. Foresters sit in ambush for long periods of time. But on Saturday around 5:30 am, two tribal youths were seen bringing firewood on bicycles. The forest officer said that another youth had a country gun in his hand. The smugglers dropped the wood on their bicycles and fled into the forest with guns to witness the forest workers. Forest personnel witnessed the smugglers leaving the gun in the forest. Later the matter was reported to Teliamura Forest Range Officer. Meanwhile, the range officer came to know about the matter and reported it to Teliamura police station, said the patrolling forest officer. However, the addition of indigenous guns in the hands of illegal wood smugglers is making the forest workers think.
