Agartala, July 12: A sensational incident has been observed at Mata Tripureshwari Temple. Early morning hikers spotted a skull floating in the Kalyansagar lake on Wednesday morning. They immediately sent word to the head priest of the temple Chandan Chakraborty, manager of the temple trust and Matabari panchayat chief Montu Chandra Das.
On receiving the information, they rushed to the spot and confirmed that it was a skull floating in the water and the temple authorities immediately informed the Radhakishorpur police station. After preliminary examination, the police said that a human skull was recovered. The police’s initial idea is that the skull was brought from somewhere else and dumped in the Kalyan Sagar lake. The accused involved in the incident have not been identified, but the police have started an investigation into the incident.
Matabari temple head priest Chandan Chakraborty expressed concern that if it is human skull, then the rules and regulations regarding water usage need to be revised. He also said that the water of Kalyansagar lake will be purified.
Meanwhile, despite efforts to identify additional remains, police have only recovered human skeletal skulls. The recovered skull has been shifted to Gomti District Hospital Mortuary at Tepaniya for post-mortem.
In this regard, MLA Abhishek Debroy said that the skull were recovered from the Dighi water this morning. The police have started investigating the incident. The investigation will reveal how old the skull was recovered. According to him, no murders have been reported anywhere in Udaipur. Moreover, he directed the temple authorities to purify the water of the lake as soon as possible.
The discovery of a human skeletal skull in the holy water of the Mata Tripureshwari temple pond has created a stir in the entire Udaipur sub-division. The temple authorities have also demanded to identify the source, motive behind this alarming incident and bring to justice those involved in the incident.
