A five-member delegation, including Dhananjay Debbarma, Anjali Debbarma, Ratan Kishore Jamatia, Chandrakanta Debbarma, and Arun Debbarma, submitted the memorandum to Sub-Zonal Officer Kamal Debbarma.

Addressing the media, former minister Naren Jamatia alleged that since the formation of the coalition government in the state, there has been a reign of terror, with people’s democratic rights being suppressed. He further stated that people now want to speak up and understand their rights, but the current situation doesn’t allow it. Therefore, to restore people’s democratic rights, the GJM State Committee has convened conventions at various zonal and sub-zonal levels and decided to submit deputations to demand people’s rights.

Their demands include the implementation of the 125th Constitutional Amendment in the ADC area, immediate conduct of village committee elections, provision of 200 days of work per year as promised, and several other demands.
