Agartala: April 20: The revered festival of Garia Puja has unfolded across the state, marked by deep reverence and religious fervor. Tribal communities, with unwavering enthusiasm, have come together to celebrate this significant occasion.

The festival held annually on the 7th day of Baisakh, Baba Garia Puja holds immense importance for tribal communities. Preparations for this event have been underway for nearly a month, reflecting the anticipation and dedication of the people.

Prominent political figures, including Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, BJP candidate Biplab Kumar Deb, state BJP president Rajib Bhattacharya, Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Minister Ratan Lal Nath, and Minister Sudhanshu Das, have extended warm greetings to the citizens on this auspicious occasion.

Tribal-dominated areas come alive during Garia Puja. Baba Garia’s puja takes center stage, both in private homes and public spaces. The capital city of Agartala buzzes with excitement, especially in neighborhoods inhabited by tribal communities. Regardless of caste or economic status, everyone participates in the age-old tradition of making sacrifices during Garia Puja.

The custodian of rituals, Purohit Chantai, provides intricate insights into the significance and practices associated with Garia Puja.

As the vibrant celebrations continue, the spirit of unity and devotion prevails among the tribal populace, reaffirming the cultural richness of Tripura.
