Agartala: Feb 24: Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman, the former supremo of the Tipra Motha party, has issued a stern warning. He announced his intention to stage a hunger strike at the base of the revered Hatai Kotor on February 28 with his demand a constitutional resolution.
In a social media post shared on Saturday, Deb Barman laid out his ultimatum. If the central government fails to address the grievances raised by Tipra Motha, he is prepared to take extreme measures. The party’s demands include three critical points, Separate State for Tripuri People, Inclusion of Kokborok Language, ST Status for Tripuri People.
The Tipra Motha leadership conducted an on-site inspection at the Hatai Kotor last Saturday, where the hunger strike is planned. Deb Barman assured that the protest would be “peaceful and democratic,” signaling unwavering commitment until their demands are met.
The Hatai Kotor, situated in the Unakoti district of Tripura, holds sacred significance for the Tripuri community. As the tension mounts, all eyes are on the central government’s response. Will they heed Tipra Motha’s call, or will Deb Barman’s hunger strike proceed as threatened. Only time will reveal the outcome of this constitutional standoff.
