Gomati shock: Teacher kills wife, son; critical

Agartala: Sept 19: During a visit to the Ranirbazar Durganganj area, former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar addressed the media, expressing his views on the recent incident involving the breaking of a Kali idol. Sarkar stated that the incident and subsequent events appeared to be pre-planned with the intention of creating religious divisions.

Sarkar mentioned that the CPM leadership had initially sought permission to visit the area following the incident but were denied by the police. It was only on their third attempt that they were granted access.

He condemned the attacks on minority homes that occurred that night, noting that the perpetrators had specifically targeted these houses, leading to looting and arson. Many residents reportedly fled to the forest for safety.

Sarkar also criticized the police for their inaction during the attacks, reiterating his belief that the true objective behind the incident was to foster religious discord.
