Agartala: Feb 14: A state-level fish festival was held on Friday at Purbasha Maidan in the capital. Fisheries Minister Sudhanshu Das inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp. Speaking at the event, the Minister mentioned that this is the third fish festival being held this year, organized to encourage fish farmers. While previous years saw state-level fish festivals, this year an initiative was taken to organize district-level fish festivals. After holding the fish festival in eight districts, the state-level fish festival is now taking place.
The Minister emphasized that proper fish farming can meet the state’s fish demand and make the fish farmers financially self-reliant. To support this, the government is providing all kinds of assistance to the fish farmers. He added that the fish festival aims to review and highlight the hard work of the fish farmers and show them due respect. The Minister expressed his belief that such events would make the youth of the state more enthusiastic and interested in fish farming. After the event, the fish farmers were honored.
