Agartala, May 30: The Engineers Forum, a collective representing engineers in the region, has raised its voice in protest against the recent incident involving a senior manager from the Electricity Department. According to reports, the manager, Apu Pal, was attacked and molested by lawyers within the court premises. In response, the forum submitted a deputation on behalf of its members to address the issue.

During the incident, an engineer alleged that not only lawyers but also individuals from various other departments were present at the court premises. The attack on the senior manager was reportedly pre-planned. Outraged by this act, the Engineers Forum organized a demonstration to express their discontent and demand justice.

In a statement, the forum emphasized the challenges faced by the Electricity Department in providing services, especially during adverse conditions such as storms. Repairing power lines, including the 11,000-volt lines, involves intricate technical processes and considerable time. The forum urged the public to understand that restoring electricity immediately after a storm is not feasible due to widespread disruptions caused by the weather.

The incident has drawn attention to the safety and security of public servants within court premises and highlights the need for better measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
