Agartala, September 26: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday said that people have come to realize that without BJP, the state’s development is not possible and voters who were previously affiliated with other opposition parties have begun to join the BJP, inspired by PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Seva Hi Sangathan’ mantra.

Dr. Saha said this after 269 voters from various opposition parties officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party during the ‘Jana Ashirwad Yatra’ held at Chawmanu School ground in the Dhalai district today.

“In today’s gathering, many families will be joining the BJP. I extend a warm welcome to them for choosing the right time to join our party. A few days ago, elections were held in two seats. I made it a point to visit these two seats every single day. Many people mentioned that they had never seen a chief minister to visit poll-bound assemblies during by election. I conducted padyatras, went door-to-door, and as a result, we won both seats, which were considered CPIM’s stronghold,” said Dr. Saha.

He further emphasized that PM Modi has redefined politics, and in Tripura, the BJP is following this direction.

“When I was in Delhi, many leaders inquired how we managed to win both seats. I told them that people are increasingly drawn to the BJP and are embracing the ideology that without the BJP, the state and the country cannot progress. Inspired by PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Seva Hi Sangathan’ mantra, voters are flocking to the BJP,” Dr. Saha said.

He mentioned that during the previous elections, many BJP workers faced attacks, and some lost their lives, while others had their houses set on fire.

“Tripura was plagued by election-related violence. CPIM’s main agenda was to foster discord; they suppressed the voice of democracy and governed the state for 35 years. The Congress ruled the state for five years, following the same pattern. However, in 2018, with the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we liberated ourselves from this misrule. Since the BJP came to power, no violence has marred our elections. People yearn for peace and tranquility, which we have established in the state,” he said.

The Chief Minister also affirmed that the government is committed to the overall welfare of all sections of the populace.

“In the past, divisive lines were drawn based on caste and ethnicity. The Communists only engaged in politics of division. With the advent of the BJP, these lines have been erased,” Dr Saha added.

The Chief Minister also addressed a program at Manu Town Hall and conducted an organizational meeting with the Karyakartas of Karamcherra and Chawmanu where keeping in view the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Chief Minister said, “All the Karyakartas should go ahead with a concerted effort to strengthen the organization at the booth level to present two lotuses to Modi ji from Tripura”.

MLA Shambhulal Chakma, former MLA Parimal Debbarma, Chawmanu mandal president Mohan Lal Chakma, along with the top district and mandal-level leadership of the party were present.
