Agartala: April 04: Kailashahar Municipal Council Chairman, Chapala Rani Debroy, has raised concerns regarding developmental activities in the city. During a press conference held at the council’s conference hall, she highlighted obstacles faced in implementing projects aimed at improving infrastructure and public amenities.
Chairman Debroy, who has been serving in her role for four years, outlined several completed and ongoing projects, including the construction of roads, drains, public toilets, parks, and water supply systems. However, she emphasized the lack of adequate toilet facilities for women and children in the city.
In a meeting held on July 12, 2024, a decision was made to construct six advanced “pink toilets” under the Prime Minister’s flagship project, funded entirely by the central government. Despite initial approvals, the construction faced resistance near Kargil Corner, with Vice Chairman Nitish Dey and Kailashahar Mandal President Pritam Ghosh reportedly halting the work. Chairman Debroy presented documentation indicating prior agreement on the project, including Vice Chairman Dey’s signature.
The press conference was attended by Chief Executive Officer Pradip Sarkar, Deputy Executive Officer Biswajit Das, councilors, and other officials. Chairman Debroy expressed her commitment to continuing developmental efforts while addressing challenges faced by the council.
