Agartala: April 22: Opposition leader and CPM Politburo member Shri Jitendra Choudhury has voiced strong criticism against the BJP and the state Chief Minister over the “One Nation, One Vote” issue. In a media interview, Choudhury alleged that the RSS and BJP are attempting to centralize power through the introduction of the “One Nation, One Vote” bill in Parliament. He expressed skepticism about the bill’s chances of being passed, describing it as impractical and contradictory to the constitutional framework.
Choudhury further accused the BJP of spreading misconceptions and confusion across the country through this bill. He also responded to remarks made by the state Chief Minister, who had claimed that the opposition was struggling to preserve its existence. Choudhury countered this by highlighting the obstacles faced by the opposition during the by-election campaign, questioning who is truly struggling for existence.
The opposition leader characterized the “One Nation, One Vote” initiative as an attempt to establish an authoritarian regime, asserting that it cannot be implemented and predicting that the people of the country will oppose the BJP’s plan.
