Agartala: Jan 27: Former Chief Minister and Politburo member Manik Sarkar emphasized today that the CPI(M)’s 24th state rally will take place, despite the government’s refusal to provide a venue. He made this declaration during a press conference, expressing confidence that the rally will go ahead as planned.

Earlier in the day, Sarkar visited Sunil Debnath, a veteran Left Front leader in the Kanchanmala area of Golaghat Assembly constituency. During his visit, Sarkar interacted with Devnath and his family. He praised Debnath for his longstanding commitment to helping people, noting that, despite his current illness, he had earned widespread respect for his integrity and selflessness. Sarkar highlighted that although Debnath was a member of the CPI(M), he always supported individuals in need, irrespective of their political affiliations.

Speaking to the press afterward, Sarkar also recalled the 2018 Assembly elections, where he claimed the BJP deceived the electorate with false promises in order to prevent them from supporting the CPI(M). According to Sarkar, within a year and a half of taking power, the people began to see through the BJP’s falsehoods. He stressed that CPI(M) had consistently warned the public about the BJP’s real intentions from the outset.

Sarkar further remarked on the 2023 Assembly elections, stating that Tipra Motha had played a significant role in pushing the BJP to the edge. He pointed out that the people had now understood the BJP’s false promises, which is why the government is refusing to provide a venue for CPI(M)’s state rally. However, Sarkar made it clear that the rally will take place on January 29th, and he urged the public to remain vigilant against the BJP’s deceptive tactics in the upcoming elections.
