Agartala: Jan 02: Former Prime Minister of India and senior Congress leader, Dr. Manmohan Singh, passed away on Thursday night in New Delhi while undergoing treatment. He was 92 years old at the time of his death. In his memory, the Pradesh Congress organized a tribute and condolence ceremony at the Congress Bhavan on Thursday. The event was attended by Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, former president Pijush Kanti Biswas, and other leaders.
During the ceremony, Congress leaders paid floral tributes to Dr. Singh’s portrait and discussed his illustrious career and political contributions. Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha remarked that Dr. Manmohan Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister and Finance Minister brought significant changes to India’s economy. He particularly praised Singh for opening the doors to liberalization in India, which marked a pivotal moment in the nation’s economic history. Saha further highlighted that the late Dr. Singh was not only a capable administrator but also demonstrated immense political acumen.
Dr. Manmohan Singh’s leadership and vision were pivotal in advancing India’s standing on the global stage. His contributions to economic reforms and governance were celebrated by all, and his ability to lead with integrity and determination was acknowledged. Saha emphasized that under Singh’s leadership, India stood tall among the world’s nations, and his contribution to strengthening the country’s position was immeasurable.
The tribute event was a somber occasion to reflect on Dr. Singh’s remarkable contributions to India’s progress, both economically and politically, and to honor the legacy of a leader who played a crucial role in shaping modern India.
