Bengaluru, Oct 25: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy has accused the Congress of dividing Kempegowda’s dream of a unified Bengaluru into “five Bangalores.” Speaking at a ‘Sankalp’ meeting held at Amar Convention Hall, Jakkur in the Byatarayanapura Assembly constituency, Narayanaswamy alleged that the ruling Congress has “lost public trust” and that the people are “suffering under its governance.”

The meeting, organised as part of preparations for the Greater Bangalore (GBA) elections, was attended by several senior BJP leaders and party workers. Addressing the gathering, Narayanaswamy said there are around 400 polling booths and four lakh voters in the constituency, urging party members to strengthen booth-level coordination and counter Congress’s political tactics.

Reflecting on his 46 years in politics, he criticised internal factionalism within both Congress and BJP, saying the tendency to “defeat one’s own candidate” has weakened the party’s unity in some areas.

Commenting on Bengaluru’s rapid expansion, Narayanaswamy observed that migration-driven growth has overshadowed the development of nearby towns like Tumkur and Mandya, warning that unchecked urbanisation could create “serious breathing problems” for the city’s future.

He further alleged that the current Congress government is engaged in extortion, asserting that a return of the BJP to power is essential for providing jobs and improving governance. He urged party workers to continue their struggle against the government’s shortcomings and prepare strategically for upcoming polls.

BJP State Secretary H.C. Tammesh Gowda, N. Ravikumar, and other senior leaders also addressed the gathering, vowing to intensify campaigns highlighting the failures and corruption of local Congress leaders. The meeting saw participation from district and mandal office-bearers, ward presidents, and activists.
