Agartala, May 24: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha attended the 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the session, Dr. Saha highlighted Tripura’s strategic roadmap for long-term development, formulated in collaboration with NITI Aayog, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, academic institutions, industry experts, and civil society.
The Chief Minister emphasized that nine key sectors have been identified to drive Tripura’s growth at an annual rate of 12% over the next two decades. These include agriculture, literacy, tourism, natural resources, forest economy, infrastructure, tax revenue, strategic location, and surplus power. He added that these are supported by five pillars of governance—policy reforms, institution and capacity building, business reforms, digital governance, and compliance reduction.
Dr. Saha said Tripura has successfully implemented e-office operations from the cabinet level to the gram panchayat. Despite some challenges in policy implementation and governance, the state remains committed to creating an investor-friendly environment. He outlined an ambitious target to increase Tripura’s per capita income from $2,300 to $23,000 by 2047 through a focus on eco-tourism, IT, knowledge economy, sustainable agriculture, healthcare, culture, and sports.
Tripura has launched the Industrial Investment Policy 2024 and created infrastructure in 20 industrial zones. All 387 reforms under the Business Reforms Action Plan 2024 have been implemented. The Deregulation Task Force has eased compliance burdens, spurring investments in sectors such as rubber, bamboo processing, healthcare, and data centers.
The state currently has 86,117 MSMEs, 60,318 Self Help Groups (SHGs), and 94,723 “Lakhpati Didis.” The government is promoting entrepreneurship through SHGs and tapping into rural non-farm potential in bamboo, agarwood, dairy, aquaculture, and spices.
