Agartala, September 12: CITU gave deputation to Chief Minister based on 18 point demands. On August 30, the workers held a march and rally with their 18-point demands. On that day, the 18-point demand certificate was to be presented to the Chief Minister and deputation was supposed to be given. However, time was given on Tuesday as the Chief Minister was busy with election work. As per the pre-arranged schedule, a 5-member delegation of CITU met the Chief Minister at Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon. Prominent among the 18-point demands is that a month before the upcoming Sharadotsav, workers in all occupations should be paid bonuses commensurate with price rise. Tea plantation workers should be paid a minimum bonus of 20 percent. Any owner who refuses to pay the bonus as per the contract and as per law shall be dealt with according to law. A fair work environment should be brought back everywhere in the workplace. The monthly minimum wage of the workers should be 26000 rupees. 200 days of work should be arranged for REGA and Tweep and a daily wage of Rs 600 should be paid. According to the court order, all outstanding wages of the jute mill workers must be settled immediately.
