Agartala: Dec 26: Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha visited the ongoing renovation work of the Sundari Kali Temple located in Kasari Patti. He was accompanied by Mayor Deepak Majumder, Corporator Ratna Dutta, and other local leaders.
The Sundari Kali Temple, a historic structure dating back to the royal era, holds significant importance for the local community. However, over time, almost half of the 200-year-old temple had sunk underground. Following the Chief Minister’s directive, the Agartala Municipal Corporation took the initiative to restore and renovate the temple. Skilled workers from outside the state were brought in to assist with the restoration. Recently, the temple, which weighs around ten tons, was lifted with the help of a jack, as part of the renovation efforts. According to reports, the renovation is estimated to cost around twenty lakh rupees.
The Mayor, commenting on the renovation, said that the Sundari Kali Temple has been a place of reverence since the royal era, and it is crucial that the devotees in the area are able to worship the goddess properly. Therefore, the Municipal Corporation has taken the initiative to refurbish the temple to ensure that the faithful can once again carry out their worship with ease and devotion.
