Central Delegation Inspects Flood-Affected Areas in South District

Agartala: August 29: A central delegation visited the state to assess the impact of recent floods. Their tour covered various flood-affected areas in the South district. Beginning at 11:30 AM, the delegation convened at the circuit house conference hall in Biloniya, the district headquarters.

District Magistrate Smita Mal MS presented a comprehensive overview of the damage caused by the floods. The affected areas included electricity infrastructure, water treatment plants, schools, anganwadi centers, roads, houses, bridges, agriculture, and fisheries. The central delegation, comprising BC Joshi, Jintu Das, and Umesh Kumar Ram, engaged in discussions with local officials.

Additional Secretary Tamal Majumdar and Additional District Magistrate, Biloniya Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rinku Lahari, along with other officials, including Block Development Officers (BDOs) from various blocks in the South district, were also present. The delegation conducted site inspections at locations such as the Biloniya Muhuri river, Nandipara, Maichhara, Jiritali Meron Tila, and the ruins of houses in Paschim Kalabaria. They also examined the Ratan Mani bridge adjacent to the Biloniya Water Treatment Plant before proceeding to Shantir Bazar in the South district and continuing toward Sabrum Sub-division.
