Agartala: Nov 17: A body has been discovered in a house on Akhaura Road, Agartala, sparking widespread shock in the area. The police from West Police Station recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. The house owner, Ratan Chowdhury, has been taken into custody for questioning.
The deceased has been identified as Shubhagata Chakraborty, also known as Abhijit, a resident of Renters Colony. According to the victim’s relatives, they suspect that Abhijit was murdered over a financial dispute. On Saturday night, Abhijit had visited Ratan Chowdhury’s house to discuss a financial matter. He did not return home that night and was found dead the following morning in a locked room.
The victim’s family rejects the idea of suicide, claiming that the death was related to financial transactions. They have raised questions about why Abhijit was left at Ratan’s house that night. Abhijit’s colleagues mentioned that after noon on Saturday, when they tried calling him, someone else answered the phone, but they do not know who it was.
Ratan Chowdhury stated that he and Abhijit had been sleeping in separate rooms. He noticed the door to Abhijit’s room was locked in the morning, and assumed it was a suicide. He confirmed that the two had discussed a land-related financial matter the previous night.
The police are investigating the case, and Ratan Chowdhury has been detained for further questioning. The victim’s family and colleagues are demanding justice, believing the death to be a murder.
