Agartala: Jan 28: BJP released partial list for Assembly elections in Tripura. In a press conference at the party office in New Delhi on Saturday, BJP’s in-charge leader of North-East region MP Sambit Patra announced 48 candidates. Out of that, there are 11 women candidates and 18 new faces. Five MLAs of the BJP have dropped out in the upcoming assembly elections. Meanwhile, BJP candidates are yet to be declared in 12 seats. Sambit Patra claims that the candidate for that seat will be announced soon. The door is kept open for alliance partner IPFT. If they do not give candidates, BJP will announce the name of the party candidate in all the constituencies. Probably, the final announcement of candidate list in 60 constituencies will be made by tomorrow Sunday because January 30 is the last date for submission of nomination papers.
A meeting of the Central Election Committee was held on Friday under the chairmanship of BJP All India President Jagat Prakash Nadda. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other members of the Central Election Committee. The committee has sealed the names of 48 candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Tripura. Sambit Patra said that the next list will be announced soon.
State President Rajeev Bhattacharya is contesting in Tripura assembly elections. He has been a candidate for 9-Banmalipur constituency. Apart from this, Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha is contesting from 8-Town Baradowali and Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma 19-Charidlam constituency. Meanwhile, 5 MLAs have dropped out in the upcoming assembly elections. BJP has not fielded Mimi Majumder, MLA from Badharghat constituency, Subhash Chandra Das, MLA from Nalchar constituency, Biplab Ghosh, MLA from Matabari constituency, Arun Chandra Bhowmik, MLA from Bilonia constituency and Parimal Debvarma, MLA from Ambasa constituency. Padma Shibir has brought a new face in his place. However, in this election, there are 18 new candidates in the partial candidate list. Besides, there are 11 women candidates. Sambit Patra claims that BJP has always believed in women empowerment. This is reflected in the list of candidates for the Assembly elections in Tripura.
He said Meena Rani Sarkar in Badharghat, Himani Debvarma in Golaghati, Antara Dev Sarkar in Kamalasagar, Pratima Bhowmik in Dhanpur, Kalyani Roy in Teliamura, Swapna Majumder in Rajnagar, Patal Kanya Jamatia in Ampinagar, Suchitra Debbarma in Ambasa, Malina Debnath in Yuvrajnagar. And Santana Chakma has 11 women candidates in Pecherthal centre.
