Agartala: Feb 05: Youth Front secretary assaulted by booth president and some miscreants today. In a disturbing incident, the five day Harinaam Sankirtan at Kanchanmala Bazar in Golaghat assembly constituency concluded on Monday morning. Following the kirtan, local residents participated in a procession. However, tensions escalated when Golaghat’s Youth front secretary, Prasenjit Das, intercepted a vehicle transporting cows and demanded to inspect the papers for cattle smuggling.

The situation took a violent turn as Abhijit Biswas, the booth president of ward no. 10 in the Kanchanmala area, along with two other miscreants Ranjan Karmakar alias Kedu and Prabir Biswas brutally assaulted Prasenjit Das. The victim sustained severe injuries and lost consciousness during the altercation.According to eyewitnesses prompting the assailants to flee the scene.

The victim was rushed to Kanchanmala Primary Health Center, where his critical condition necessitated immediate transfer to Hapania Medical College Hospital. In response to the incident, Prasenjit’s family filed a detailed written complaint at Amtali Police station. The accused booth president Abhijit Biswas, Ranjan Karmakar and prabir Biswas now face investigation by the authorities, who have assured a thorough examination of the matter.

Allegations have also surfaced that the booth President and the miscreants were involved in accepting bribes from cattle smugglers passing through the Kanchanmala area. Additionally, former Mandal president Nitai Shil has been implicated in the events that unfolded on Monday morning.

On Monday afternoon, former Mandal president Ramkrishna Saha and other party leaders rushed to the hospital to see the injured Prasenjit Das. The party workers and the local residents have condemned the incident and demanded exemplary punishment for the accused.

 

Hospital sources said that Prasenjit Das’s condition is critical at the moment. He has suffered severe injuries to his head and waist. Everyone is now waiting to see what action the Amtali police station takes against the miscreants.
