Agartala: Sept 24: BJP and CPI(M) opposed the 12-hour Bandh call given by Tipra-Motha in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) areas on September 30 but the Congress has decided to remain silent on the matter as it is a political issue of Motha party.
The ruling BJP on Saturday opposed the Bandh Call given by Tipra-Motha but has yet to take any decision about what should be the role of the party on the day. Subrata Chakraborty, spokesperson of the party said they will take a decision in this matter in appropriate time and let the people know. However, they are determined to oppose the bandh call as it is intended only to disturb the development process of the state.
He also criticized Pradyot Kishore and said it is nothing but ‘eyewash’ as the party has become panicked as it is rapidly losing its popularity among the tribal people. Many people have already deserted the party and all the common people become totally disillusioned about his leadership.
He said Pradyot himself said he is resorting to presser politics. It clearly indicates that no public interest is involved with the bandh call and it is an attempt to maintain his existence.
Jitendra Chaudhury, the CPI (M) state secretary said they are opposing the bandh call given by Tipra Motha on September 30. He said the party will clarify its stand on the issue in a press conference on Sunday.
Ashish Kumar Saha, state president of the Congress refused to make any comment about the bandh call saying that it is a political programme of their party and Congress has nothing to say about it.
