Agartala: Sept 08: Khoreshed Alam, a former Pradhan (head) of Kulubari Panchayat and a current Panchayat member from the BJP, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting Panchayat member Purnima Namoh. The incident took place during the first meeting of the newly elected Panchayat members on Saturday.

According to the complaint, Alam, who is also the husband of the former Pradhan, assaulted Purnima Namoh during the meeting. A case has been filed against the accused at Sonamura Police Station. Police have arrested Alam after investigating the incident and taken him to the police station.

The OC of Sonamura Police Station stated that Alam was arrested based on the complaint filed by Purnima Namoh. The police produced Alam in court on Sunday.

It’s worth noting that in recent days, there has been a growing rift within the ruling party after the Panchayat elections. This infighting has tarnished the party’s image and has become a major issue for the opposition. The police station has been inundated with complaints. The party is facing a crisis as its leaders and workers are getting caught up in these incidents.
