Agartala: July 20: On July 18, an attack occurred on the Congress nomination procession in Tepania, resulting in injuries to several Congress workers, including MLA Sudip Roy Barman. In connection with this incident, police have arrested two BJP workers.
Additionally, several leaders and workers, including MLA Sudip Roy Barman, were affected by typhoid while submitting their nomination papers for the A-level panchayat elections on the same day. A delegation from the National Congress Party’s parliamentary party visited Udaipur yesterday to speak with those who were injured. The parliamentary party representatives stated that this issue will be raised in parliament.
On Saturday, Udaipur Radha Kishorepur police station arrested two ruling party workers, Bapan Ghosh and Mihir Pal, based on the complaint that Congress leaders and workers, including MLA Sudip Roy Barman, were attacked by ruling party workers. BJP’s Bagma-Killa MLA Rampad Jamatia visited Radha Kishorepur police station on Saturday to speak with Bapan and Mihir after learning of their arrest.
The Officer-in-Charge of the police station stated that Bapan Ghosh and Mihir Pal have been arrested for their involvement in the incident last Thursday. The police are continuing their efforts to apprehend others involved. The case has been registered under case number 73/2024, and the investigation is ongoing under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
