Announcement of increase in wages of contractual seasonal workers working in agriculture and horticulture

Agartala: April 24: Horti Research Center at Nagishara has GRU-D staff, regular staff, irregular staff and some contractual staff. There are 1,321 contract workers in the state of Tripura under the Department of Agriculture. Among them, 715 people are working in agriculture department and 606 people are working in horticulture. Their wages are paid through voucher bills.

Their wages are very low according to the work. Their daily wages are 226 taka in some places and 323 taka in some places. Somewhere 300 taka daily wages are given. Minister Ratan Lal Nath held a meeting with the officials of the department regarding this issue. It was decided in the meeting that henceforth all contractual workers i.e. seasonal workers will be paid Rs 385 per day. This decision will be effective from April 1. Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath gave this news in a press conference in Mahakaran on Monday. Minister Ratan Lal Nath also said that the current demand of food crops in the state is 9 lakh 37 thousand metric tons. Production in the state is 8 lakh 71 thousand metric tons. Minister Ratan Lal Nath also said that production has increased by 21 thousand metric tons in the last 5 years.
