Animal husbandry and fisheries should be given importance in the development of rural economy: Pratima Bhoumik

Agartala, September 29: Animal husbandry and fisheries should be given importance in the development of rural economy. Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik said this in a meeting of District Development and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at Circuit House in Belonia today. He added that two switch gates will be constructed in the district to build irrigation sources. 20 lakhs will be spent for this.

The program of rural development, health, forest, works, electricity, social welfare and social education, fisheries, agriculture, horticulture, animal resources development department and MP area development projects were reviewed in the meeting.

In the meeting, State Minister Pratima Bhoumik said that farmers should be encouraged to grow maize in South Tripura district. Farmers are likely to benefit from maize cultivation. Moreover, importance should be given to animal husbandry and fisheries in the development of rural economy.

According to him, special importance has been given to the development of that system in South Tripura district. Two switch gates will be constructed in the district to construct irrigation sources. He said that the cost will be 20 lakh rupees.

On this day, he also said that 70 lakh rupees have been spent in the district so far in the development project of the MP area. Pratima Bhoumik claimed that two ideal Anganwadi centers will be built in Rajnagar and Shantirbazar in the district.
