A huge cache of contraband worth crores of rupees, along with firearms, was recovered from drug dealer Sundar Ali’s house. Upon receiving the news, West Bengal Police Superintendent Kiran Kumar K rushed to Amtali police station. He told reporters that the police had received a tip-off that Sundar Ali, a resident of Matinagar School area, might be keeping Yaba tablets and firearms in his house. Based on this information, the Amtali police, along with the BSF, raided Sundar Ali’s house.
The search operation yielded 59,200 Yaba tablets, 50 bottles of Phensedyl, Tk 23,550 in cash, a money counting machine, and a sophisticated pistol with two magazines and 7 rounds of live bullets. Sundar Ali was arrested.
The West Bengal Police Superintendent further informed that drug dealer Sundar Ali will be taken into police remand and interrogated. The recovery of firearms, including live bullets, from Sundar Ali’s house once again highlights that firearms have reached the hands of drug dealers in border areas. Besides, another fact is becoming increasingly clear that border areas are becoming extremely sensitive due to drug trafficking. It remains to be seen what information the police can gather by interrogating the arrested Sundar Ali.
