Agartala: Dec 13: Municipal Corporation has taken various schemes for the welfare of street vendors in Agartala. There are now 2,738 street vendors in the Agartala Pur Nigam area. Street vendors are being given loans of 10 to 50 thousand rupees through Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana. Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Deepak Majumder said this at the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana and National Urban Livelihood Mission beneficiary conference at the town hall today.
On this day, the Mayor said, Agartala Municipal Corporation has taken the initiative to build ‘New Agartala’. For this purpose, Agartala Municipal Corporation is constructing new roads, renovating old roads, renovating old and abandoned ponds.
Moreover, efforts have been made to improve the city’s drains, electrification, door-to-door garbage cleaning, open gyms and expand drinking water facilities. He said that the current governing body of Agartala Municipal Corporation has completed 2 years. A multi-pronged plan has been taken to redevelop the Agartala Municipal Corporation in the next 3 years.
He said that the corporation’s report card of these 2 years will be delivered to the citizens. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha has endeavored to build self-reliant Tripura, one Tripura, a better Tripura.
