Agartala, May 6th — In a significant development, the Airport police have apprehended a third accused, Bir Chakra Ghosh, a renowned ‘Nego Mafia,’ in connection with the murder of Bharat Ratna Sangha Club’s general secretary, Durga Prasanna Deb.
Ghosh, who had been on the run, was nabbed in Kolkata’s Mukundapur and subsequently brought back to Agartala. This marks the third arrest related to the case where Tripura police worked in solidarity with Kolkata police department.
Shortly, after the shooting, the police arrested one Pradyot Dhar Choudhury (65) and later detained another woman identified as Sushmita Sarkar following the fatal shooting that occurred on Tuesday evening in Hathipara, Shalbagan area.
According to police sources, after the tragic incident, Bir Chakra Ghosh had fled to Kolkata, but diligent police work led to his arrest in the city yesterday.
The investigation continues as authorities seek to unravel the motives behind this heinous crime.
