Agartala: Nov 22: The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) has AIKS an extensive membership drive to strengthen its organization and mobilize support for the farming community. Today, Pabitra Kar, the state secretary of the All India Kisan Sabha, along with fellow leaders like Ratan Das, visited the Indranagar and Krishnanagar areas as part of this initiative. The leaders were actively engaged in distributing leaflets and putting up posters to inform residents about the AIKS’s upcoming nationwide trade union movement scheduled for November 26.
Pabitra Kar, while speaking to the locals, emphasized the significance of the membership drive, stating that it is aimed at amplifying the collective voice of farmers across the country. He mentioned that the campaign has received an overwhelming response from the residents of Indranagar and Krishnanagar, with support pouring in from every household. The enthusiasm for the drive highlights the growing concerns among farmers about their rights and the lack of government support under the current administration.
The membership campaign is being held against the backdrop of the challenges faced by farmers, particularly under the BJP government, which, according to Kar, has led to widespread deprivation of government benefits. He pointed out that despite the crucial role farmers play in the country’s economy, they have not received adequate support in the form of subsidies, financial aid, or policies that cater to their needs.
Through this drive, the All India Kisan Sabha aims to unite farmers and their supporters, strengthening the movement for their rights. The organization’s efforts are focused on raising awareness about the struggles farmers face, ensuring they receive fair treatment, and pushing for policy changes that benefit the agricultural community. The overwhelming response to the drive reflects the growing desire for change and support among the farmers of Tripura.
