Agartala: April 06: The Agartala Press Club held its much-anticipated election on Sunday, marking a significant moment for the local media community. Senior journalist Pranab Sarkar was elected as the new president, ushering in a fresh leadership for the club. Meanwhile, senior photojournalist Ramakanta Dey secured his re-election as the Secretary, maintaining his influential role within the club. Dey, who had earned widespread support, triumphed by securing 153 votes, defeating his opponent Biswendu Bhattacharjee of the ‘United Progressive’ panel.

The ‘United Progressive’ panel, despite the loss in the secretary race, managed to secure five out of the 11 available posts. Senior journalist Chitra Roy emerged victorious in the vice president race, while Kamal Chowdhury and Abhishek Dey were re-elected as Assistant Secretaries. Ranjan Roy also retained his position as Treasurer. The newly elected executive members include Mihir Lal Sarkar, Abhishek Debbarma, Biswajit Dey, Santosh Gope, and Ranjit Debbarma, each bringing their unique expertise to the table.
