Agartala, March 7: The Agartala Municipal Corporation unveiled its budget for the upcoming financial year, setting forth a total allocation of Rs 416.74 crore. However, the budget reveals a deficit of Rs 76 lakh 75 thousand.
Mayor Deepak Majumder, while presenting the comprehensive budget at the Agartala Municipal Corporation conference hall, emphasized its alignment with the welfare of city residents. The deficit, he explained, would be addressed by focusing on property tax and trade license revenue, rather than imposing additional direct taxes.
Comparing the figures to the previous fiscal year, Mayor Majumder highlighted that the estimated revenue and capital income for 2023-24 stood at Rs 39646 crore, with approved expenditures of Rs 397.01 crore. The deficit during that period was Rs 55.22 lakh. The proposed budget for 2024-25 reflects an increase of Rs 19.51 crore in revenue and Rs 19.73 crore in expenditure.
The budget’s emphasis on sustainable revenue sources and prudent financial management aims to enhance the quality of life for Agartala’s residents.
